Tryout Letter Pee Wee A

Head Coach: Marcus Scarafoni

My Mission: To have fun and teach the game of hockey! To keep these players wanting more and coming to the rink each day with a smile on there face and ready to go. Teaching and building better hockey players through hard work, competitiveness and ability to overcome all odds. I will work to help our team grow as individuals and to realize what working as a team can do for us, working together to achieve a common goal. I will work to improve both individual skills and team systems to educate and grow players to reach new levels. I also believe this game teaches us about life lessons and hope that we as parents and coaches can help relate the game to some of our “real life experiences” thus helping our kids to grow off the ice as well.

The following sections will give you a better understanding of my expectations and goals for the season:

Playing Time:
  • Players will be given playing time based on their ability to perform in game and practice situations. If a game is close we will shorten up the bench and utilize players that are performing at there best for that particular day.
  • The team may be asked at any point in the season to attend the Wednesday morning power skates before school upon the coach’s request.
Team/Individual goals:
  • Team goals will be set by our players, parents and coaches at the beginning of the season listing what our mission will be. This will happen in our first parent/ team meeting.

  • Players will meet with the coaching staff soon after our first practice and list individual goals, trying to attain these by the end of the season.

Player Conduct:
  • Players are to demonstrate respect/professionalism for all parents, coaches, teammates, opponents, officials and arena staff/locker rooms at all times.
  • Locker rooms are to be maintained by the players and are not the responsibility of the coaches or parents. We will only have one locker room for the team for practices and games.
  • A players actions in the locker rooms before, and after practices/games are the responsibility of the player and their parents.
  • Players are expected to attend all practices and games with the exception of school, illness and family emergency.

Dress Code:
  • Players are expected to dress in warm-up suits for games and if we travel, kaki pants/shorts and a collared shirt and dress shoes will be required.

Tournaments:
  • We will be planning to stay in state and attend 3-6 tournaments this season. If we do advance through any of our tournaments and have the opportunity to travel out of state we will be making the trip. Examples of this are: Silversticks & Nationals
Additional Ice:
  • Additional ice will be added throughout the season for practices and scrimmage games. These times may come up quickly and with short notice so please be flexible for these times.
Fund-Raising:
  • We may be doing some fund-raising with the addition of additional ice, scrimmages, winning tournaments, team functions (i.e. pizza parties, team outings, etc.).

Team Management:
  • We will be in need of a team manager, tournament manger, statistician and additional volunteers for pucks, water bottles, etc.

Good luck to all the players trying out for the team and thank you to all for being a part of the Arvada Hockey Association.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you may have.

Best Regards,
Marcus Scarafoni
