Welcome to the Pee Wee AA tryouts for the 2008-09 season.
Please review this letter prior to tryouts. The purpose of this letter to communicate expectations for any player and his/her family considering playing Pee Wee AA this year!
1. Playing time is earned and not guaranteed to be equal. The goal is that every player be given an equal and fair opportunity to contribute to the success of team. I will do my best to improve the skill and ability of each player on the team.
2. Team goals will be set at the beginning of the season and then re-visited and revised during the season if necessary. We will also set specific goals prior to games/scrimmages.
3. Individual Goals will be set by each player at the beginning of the season and accessed over the course of season.
4. All players at all times will be expected to demonstrate respect for his/her teammates, opponents and officials. This includes respect for all facilities we play in. At Apex we will only occupy ONE locker room for practices and games.
5. Attendance at practices, team meetings and games are mandatory with the following exceptions; school events for a grade (i.e. Outdoor Lab and Concert), sickness, religious events (i.e. confirmation) and family events or emergency.
6. Players are expected to attend Power Skates on Wednesday mornings before school during the season. Although not mandatory, this practice is very important individual and team development.
7. We will play in 3-6 tournaments during the season. The plan for now is;
a. Early Bird at Arapahoe (Late September)
b. Silver Sticks- Arvada/Hyland (October)
c. Minneapolis, Minnesota between Christmas and New Years
d. We will know about Thanksgiving at Littleton by the end of September. If we do not get into the Littleton tournament at Thanksgiving we have the weekend off.
e. We may look for a tournament in Jan. or Feb. as well.
8. The Pee Wee AA team will schedule and acquire ‘extra ice’ from time to time. Notice of these sessions sometimes is short, so please be flexible. These ‘extra ice’ times will be used for practices and scrimmage games.
9. New this year will be the expected participation at all Total Hockey session we as a team schedule. At this time I am working out the details but you should plan for at least 1 to 2 sessions at Total Hockey per week over the course of the season.
10. Fundraising and fees- Due to the extra ice and the addition of Total Hockey to the season plan we will have a need to raise money through fundraising and donations. We will discuss further at the initial team/parent meetings. We will only commit to what is affordable based on the fundraising ability of the team.
11. Good Luck during tryouts and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
