I’d like to welcome you to Arvada and the 2008/2009 tryouts and hockey season. I’d like to introduce myself and tell you a little about the upcoming season.
I am USA Hockey Level 3 coach and I have been coaching for 15 years at all levels; I have been head coach at the Pee Wee and Squirt levels and Assistant Coach at Pee Wee, Bantam, and Girls AA. I assist in different camps here and in Boston and give private lessons. This is my first year with Arvada and I am so excited to get the on and off the ice curriculum put into motion. I would also like to introduce Jen Reiske who will be the U19 Assistant Coach. Jen has been a women’s coach in the Denver area. We have Assistant Director and coach Marcus Scarafoni and goalie coach Timm Lorenz assisting periodically throughout the season.
I am looking forward to the development of the girls as a team and individuals. My expectations and philosophy as a coach is that members of the Arvada Girls U19 team will conduct themselves with the utmost integrity. They will show respect for our team members, the competition, parents, coaches’ officials, and Arvada Hockey Association. I am committed to creating a fun and successful season regardless of what the scoreboard reflects. The opportunity to show my enthusiasm and knowledge for the girls is so exciting that the anticipation is killing me!!
We will be participating in the Mountain States Girls Hockey League (MSGHL). The U19 level has been divided into two levels this year Recreational and Competitive. We will be competing in the Competitive Level. The teams we will be competing against will be Colo. Springs, Colo. Select, Ft. Collins, Steamboat, Telluride, Gunnison, Aspen, and Vail. The coaches will be looking at several different options for tournaments both in and out of state this year. We will discuss our options during the parents meeting that will be held shortly after tryouts.
